Hemp is Fashion Forward and Environmentally Friendly
To wear hemp is a bold and fashion forward statement. You are saying that you go against what has been acceptable, that you are free to do as you please. Hemp is where it’s at; if you use it, buy it or sell it, you must be a rebel. For the past 80 years, hemp has been touted as a gateway drug that will lead you to a life of crime. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Hemp and products made out of it are not harmful to people. There are many hundreds of products that we can make out of this plant such as paper, oil, food, rope and building materials as well as clothing. It has only been through the last eight decades or so that it has been illegal to grow in the United States. It was made illegal during this time because it is a close cousin of the drug marijuana, even though they are very different because one is useful and one is not.
Hemp is useless to smoke for recreational purposes, and growers of either plant know that cross contamination between the two would ruin one crop or the other. In other words, marijuana growers don’t want hemp around their fields because it will decrease the THC levels and hemp farmers don’t want marijuana anywhere near their fields because the quality of the hemp fibres will be less than desirable.
So many of the top designers have recognized the amazing qualities that hemp has to offer. When you compare it with cotton the fibers are more durable, it holds color for longer and it has a high tolerance against fungus and mold. This is sure to save you piles of money in the long run. The best known name brands such as Michael Kors, Adidas, Calvin Klein and Juicy Couture are well known to have used this material in their designs at one time or another and we all know that they are the smartest when it comes to such things.
Wearing hemp clothes is safe and environmentally friendly. This would never have been an issue if it was not falsely accused of being a dangerous drug those many years ago. The lumber and oil companies are responsible for this happening because they wanted to do away with their largest competitor. We can’t change history, but what we can do is support hemp by using products made out of this plant such as clothing, and be fashionably in style while we do it.
